Fiber sales vs. solar, pest and alarm D2D roles
Compare the actual assignment and written pay plan before you switch. A headline commission estimate does not tell you when commissions qualify, what expenses you cover or what happens after a customer cancels.
Home Front Solutions offers in-person, door-to-door fiber internet sales. Its current role is full-time, 1099 independent contractor and commission-only, with no base pay or guaranteed earnings.
Use the same questions for every offer
Solar, pest, alarm and fiber programs can have different agreements, customer requirements and payment events. Confirm these details with each company instead of assuming that one category always pays more.
| Compare | Ask each company | For Home Front's fiber role |
|---|---|---|
| The customer offer | Which product, provider, approved pricing and customer qualifications apply? | Confirm the provider program and address eligibility before explaining an approved internet offer. |
| Commission qualification | Does payment depend on an order, installation, activation, collection or another event? | Read the actual qualifying event and rate in your written plan. An order and a completed installation are different milestones. |
| Cancellations and chargebacks | What can reverse a commission, during which period, and how are disputes handled? | The written plan controls verification, cancellations, chargebacks and payment timing. |
| Expenses and travel | Who covers transportation, lodging, equipment and other assignment costs? | Confirm expenses and any travel arrangement before accepting an assignment. |
| Work area and schedule | Who assigns territory, what hours are expected, and what happens if the area changes? | A city selection is a recruiting preference. Recruiting confirms the actual assignment, dates and schedule. |
| Training and supervision | Who trains you, what does training involve, and is that time compensated? | Product training and field coaching are provided. Ask about the current schedule and compensation terms. |
What you would do in fiber sales
Speak with homeowners in assigned neighborhoods, confirm address eligibility, explain approved plans, record accurate orders and follow up on installation. Clear explanations, accurate records and respect for customer decisions matter throughout the process.
The work requires reliable transportation, a smartphone with data and U.S. work authorization. It involves outdoor work and conversations with residents. Discuss work requirements and any reasonable accommodation with recruiting.
Compare earnings using your own assumptions
Start with the rate and qualifying event in your actual written offer. Account for nonqualifying orders, cancellations, chargebacks, expenses and time spent training or travelling. Commission-only earnings vary and may be zero.
Use the field sales offer calculator to compare scenarios. It cannot establish likely earnings. Review Home Front's pay and conditional performance bonus terms separately.
Discuss the actual assignment
Bring your preferred work area, availability and questions about the written plan. Previous fiber sales experience is not required.
